The property is approached through a quaint pathway meandering through the front garden leading to the original front door of the property with old coaching lamp and furniture. Through this doorway you arrive into the formal dining hall which sets of the quality, character and charm this property offers throughout. Within the dining hall is an open fireplace with inset multi fuel stove. We have been informed due to the size of the fireplace there is a commercial stove installed which is a double sided one. Views of the fireplace are available from the dining hall and the library area on the opposite side. Within the dining hall fireplace sits the original Clome oven. From the dining hall a staircase rises to the first floor providing access to 4 bedrooms and a family bathroom, a doorway to the right leads to the Snug / Bedroom 5, a doorway to the left leads into the library area and French doors immediately in front lead into the kitchen / breakfast area.

The formal sitting room is again of generous proportions and provides similar character and charm to the rest of the property. From this room there is a smaller more private area which we have called the Library as previously mentioned above with a view of the fire place. Large French doors within the sitting room lead to the conservatory at the rear of the home measuring in excess of 13ft in length. This area provides wonderful views over the rear garden with doors providing access to the rear sun terrace with feature well pump. Within the conservatory a glass floor offers views down the Well. Our client has made a charming feature of this and has placed some lighting within to further improve the view. Completing the accommodation on the ground floor is a separate snug which could be a ground floor bedroom, if so desired.

The History
The Hatch is a fascinating property and has been since its construction in the late 16th century. Having been the village focal point for visiting guests to capture an image of the impressive front façade with the impressive thatched roof and attractive nature of the property it is often the talking point within the village pub or nearby Crantock beach. In Victorian times The Crantock Fudge Factory was operated from the building within the grounds of The Hatch which is still there to this day and still has the original cooking stove within the original fire place. The door leading into this building features a brass Port Hole from the SS Great Western of 1838. She was the largest passenger ship in the world from 1837 to 1839. Mill stones which are now set within the grounds of The Hatch are believed to be from The Round House, located just down the road, which was the village Mill operated by horse from the gate entrance.

Location
The village of Crantock is only three miles from Newquay but is a world apart. A picturesque village with a historic heart, it has an ancient church, two pubs, a tea room, an art gallery, gift shop and a village store. Almost a stone's throw from the property one can find The Bowgie Inn and the C-Bay bistro. Crantock Bay provides an ideal holiday destination for families. The beach at Crantock offers holiday makers and families over a mile of level high quality sand and sand dunes, with plenty of rock pools and caves to explore at low tide along the edges of the West Pentire and East Pentire headlands. The cliff line along Crantock Bay's western edge provides a degree of shelter to the beach. The southern edge of the beach is lined by sand dunes and Marram grass, creating a nature haven for the local wildlife and a great place for the children to play.

The Atlantic rollers make it an ideal surfer's beach and it is patrolled by lifeguards during the peak season. Crantock's beach is popular for swimming, fishing, snorkelling, surfing, wind surfing and canoeing. Immediately to the west is the 'secret' beach at Porth Joke - sometimes referred to as Polly Joke. A footpath close to the property leads down to beautiful and unspoilt National Trust-owned cove of Crantock .
